HOW TO MEASURE YOURSELF FOR THE PERFECT FITTING BRA…

Two measurements taken in inches are needed to ascertain your correct bra size. These are best taken in front of a mirror to ensure the measuring tape is level for the circumference of the chest.

The first measurement should be a tight measurement taken around your rib cage just underneath the bust.

Take this measurement and add 4 or 5 inches to reach an even number.

This number is referred to as your ‘band size’.

The second measurement should be a loose measurement taken across the fullest part of the bust.

This measurement will give you your cup size.

If your cup size is…

the same as your band size you are an A cup

1 inch more than your band size you are a B cup

2 inches more than your band size you are a C cup

3 inches more than your band size you are a D cup

And so on through DD, E, and F etc.

Example:

First measurement around the rib cage is 33inches.

33 + 5 (to reach an even number) = 38

Your Band Size is 38

Second measurement taken loosely at the fullest part of the bust is 40inches.

2 inches greater than the band size = C Cup

Therefore the correct bra size would be a 38C.

We all know that during pregnancy and after the birth of your baby(s) your body including your breasts go through many changes. It is important to ensure your breasts are free from restrictions but are supported during this time. Good support of the breast with a correctly fitting maternity or nursing bra reduces ligament stretching not to mention increasing over all comfort.

To provide a better service and minimise the likelihood of a poor fit, we have refined the ‘find my size’ calculator to make recommendations based on the measurements you give. This takes into account the slightly differing manufacturers sizes and lists suitable products by best match first. The calculator can be found at the top of the page.

If you wear a good fitting bra, you should not be able to feel that you are wearing one at all. Nothing can beat being professionally measured to get your correct bra size, we strongly recommend you visit your local independent lingerie retailer if you are in doubt.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR PROBLEM SOLVING…

If the band at the back of the bra rides up the band of the bra is too big, so you need a smaller back size.

If the under-wire is digging in to your under arm, your cup is too small. The under-wire should encase the breast, not dig into it.

If the bra straps dig in, your bra is too big in the back and not big enough in the cup. This causes you to pull the straps up too tight for support.

If your breasts are falling out of the bottom of the under-wire, the band of your bra is too big and the cup is too small.

If your breasts overspill out of your bra, you need to increase your cup size, until you have a smoother silhouette under clothes.

Please remember that sizes can vary between different manufacturers and different styles. Please use our size calculator at the top of the page to help you get the best fit.
